Couvent begins its 2019 harvest
September 19, 2019. The first grapes of Couvent des Jacobins arrived at the
heart of Saint-Émilion on September 19, 2019, in the early morning, for a second
sorting before a gravity-based vatting. The berries come from the young merlots
plots planted on the Southwest slope of the Saint-Émilion hill. They were
ripe, juicy, balanced and packed with dense fruit aromas. The 2019 harvest
begins about a week earlier than in the 2018 vintage given the sunny weather
conditions, and our desire to maintain sufficient freshness in the berries. The
older plots of merlot will be harvested in the week of September 23, and the
cabernet francs and the petits verdots plots most likely within the first two
weeks of October 2019.
