The 2019 harvest at Couvent des Jacobins and CALICEM is coming to an end

October 10, 2019. We harvested the last grapes at Couvent des Jacobins on October 9, 2019, henceforth closing nearly three weeks of harvesting for the 2019 campaign. The 2019 harvest in a few numbers: nearly 20 grape cutters, half a dozen staff to sort the grapes, three weeks of work, tens of hours of sorting, tens of remontages and mouillages... Started on September 19 by the younger merlot vine plots, the harvest ended with the petit verdot plot on October 9.

We harvest the CALICEM plot on September 27, a similar timing as last year. Berries were ripe, yields modest for this very old vine plot planted in 1961. Berries were vatted by gravity in 500 litre oaks, and are currently punched-over daily to delicately extract color and tannins.

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our team of pickers, sorters and our team at the chai, without which the 2019 harvest wouldn't have been possible. This harvest closed the 117th year of ownership of Couvent des Jacobins by the JEAN family.
