After a few months in the barrels, the personalities of Couvent and CALICEM 2019 start to shape up.

Couvent 2019 gives a special honor to Petit Verdot in the blend. Rarely used in Saint-Émilion, petit verdot adds - alongside powerful Cabernets Francs and silky Merlots - aromatic complexity and a marque de fabrique at the domaine since 2014.                                                                                                        

CALICEM 2019 remains 100% merlot. The wine's density suggests a long ageing potential, while having silky tannins at this stage and this very long, saline aftertaste, a true "marque de fabrique" of CALICEM since the first vintage in 2015.

2019 was also our final year of official organic conversion at Couvent. We would not have been able to obtain that promising vintage without an ever-present team at the vineyard that accompanied the fruit from the flowering.
